kazakhstan - 7 October 2025
The World Bank-funded "One Health for Pandemic Prevention, Food Systems Resilience, and Ecosystem Health in Central Asia" initiative, which aims to improve regional pandemic preparedness, food security, and ecosystem protection throughout Central Asia, has awarded a contract to a Kazakhstani consultant to provide communications and public relations expertise.
the KZT 15.79 million contract was legally awarded via the Individual Consultant Selection (INDV) process under the procurement reference EH-2025-C-010. In order to increase the project's exposure and impact, the 12-month engagement includes outreach support, stakeholder engagement, and strategic communications.
Implemented under the Trust Fund TF-C7896, the assignment focuses on developing and executing a regional communications strategy for the One Health initiative - an integrated framework linking human, animal, and environmental health.
The awarded individual consultant, based in Kazakhstan, ranked first in the evaluation process. Competing professionals included Erasyl Ashimbay, Sayagul Alimbekova, Olga Yaroslavtseva, and Aziza Murzashova, with two candidates rejected due to the unavailability of key experts.
The One Health Project (P181459) represents a major regional effort to strengthen pandemic prevention systems and food resilience across Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. By focusing on cross-sectoral coordination and capacity building, the program aims to prevent zoonotic diseases, enhance biosurveillance, and promote sustainable environmental practices.
The hiring of a public relations and communications specialist underscores the World Bankβs commitment to transparency, knowledge dissemination, and effective stakeholder engagement. The consultant will develop communication materials, manage outreach campaigns, and document project milestones for wider dissemination across Central Asia.
As Central Asian governments work together to mitigate health and climate risks, the communication component will play a vital role in promoting collaboration and raising awareness. The contract is expected to help amplify key messages on pandemic resilience and ecosystem health, aligning with the global One Health approach.
