In restoration, the CMC glue is used as an adhesive for the restoration of textiles and paper. Soluble in cold and hot water, insoluble in a tetrochloristcarbon, perchlorethylene and in most organic solvents. The glue of the CMC swells in organic solvents, forming a gel -like substance.
